TA BAKED AnimTransfer
This LW Layout Script will copy BAKED animation data between Riggings, even Riggings that have DIFFERENT Rest ROTATIONS, but similar Hierarchy Naming and Rest POSITIONS. (In addition to copying IK/FK animation to an FK Rig, it can be used to copy FK animation data [MoCap] onto an IK Rig, with a little prep from the user.)
Why:
I had originally started work on this back on the original Kaze, Ghost Warrior proof-of-concept, when I needed a better way of transferring animation cycles between characters than LightWave's "Morph Mixer." What I hacked together at that time sufficed, but was rather limited, and required a lot of user pre-work.
I pushed this project further while on Battlestar Galactica, and later on the Pilot for Bionic Woman. But still, it's set-up requirements were still too complicated for me to feel comfortable releasing for the general public.
I've had the opportunity while serving as head of animation for Wardevil, in London's Ealing Studios, to bring the the tool that final 5% to make it easily usable for both Artists, and Technicians alike!
So now... begun 'many years ago...' here's an easy way to quickly transfer BAKED ANIMATION between Riggings, even when those Riggings HAVE DIFFERENT REST (base) ROTATIONS, (though still having identical Rest POSITIONS).
...And... with a wee bit of thought in prepping and adjusting the naming of your source/target Rig Items... this script can even transfer FK animation (MoCap) data onto an IK Rig! (See the included example scenes.)
