This (working alpha) LSC will Store the information of Symmetrically Matched Points, (across X, Y and Z Axes), allowing you to recover _PERFECT_ Symmetry for those Points (across the stored Axes) no matter how they are moved!

You can Re-Symmetrize from your current Selection...

...from all the Points currently on the positive or negative side of your chosen Axis...

...from all the Points that _were_ on the positive or negative side of your chosen Axis when the Symmetry Map was created...

...or from all the Points that lay along the zero-line of your chosen Axis when the Symmetry map was created.

Why:
Symmetry Tolerance, and the "Magic Mirror" suite are nice, but the ability to _store_ Symmetry would allow us to Re-Symmetrize models that had been badly banged-up... (or, if integrated into LightWave's SYMMETRY MODE, even let us operate Symmetrically when our Model no longer is Posed Symmetrically).

The operations carried-out take too long under LScript to make this tool feasible for models over, say, 10,000 Polygons, but it does show the validity of the concept of Storing Symmetry and Original Position information.

This Script also works under 8.5, and so can offer some nifty functionality to people who choose to remain behind the "bleeding edge." :)

NEW!:
v0.3 -- Added fast work-around for testing SYMMETRY Mode, so you no longer have to check manually!
Many thanks to Mike Green for suggesting the technique!

NOTE:
This is another tool that has been ready for months as I've tried to bring it to the attention of NT. I had kept it out of the "limelight" because in my opinion, it's just a proof of an idea that should be directly integrated into LW Modeler's core, (highlighting much needed additions to the LScript SDK).

However... recently, a colleague showed me "Topology" symmetry on a competing package, and from what I could see, that implementation had all the speed and restriction issues I'd found troublesome in my little LScript.

So, nuts!

"Coulda-Shoulda-Woulda" released this little tool/toy/test months ago... but hey, at least we, the LightWave Community, have now got a test-tool that can give us a "Topology"... even in LW 8.5!
